A little update for an old thread. I hope it can help someone. My problem turned out to be a problem with the rings in the valve cover that go around the spark plug tubes. When I did the valves, I wasn't as careful as I should have been when reinstalling the valve covers. Oil was getting...

    Revving at idle

I'm not sure why it's low, but know it's not a good thing. I only discovered it was low earlier last week when parked and idling, it would spike a temp. It happened one time, I drove home and checked the coolant, which was quite low. I'm going to go pick up a cylinder pressure tester and start...

    Revving at idle

I'd have to check. I get off work late tonight, but I'll look into this and get back to you.

    Revving at idle

Thanks for the reply. I had to, just a few days ago, add a good amount of coolant to the system. I thought I had it bled properly, but it wouldn't be surprising if it wasn't perfect. About bleeding the system and rev problems; as I'm bleeding the system, how long should it take before the...

    H23A P28 idle surging!

Good to know. I've got an idle problem after topping off low coolant. I'll have to look into this.

Idle Surging, Code P1259, please assist!

I've got a surge problem pretty shortly after topping off the coolant system. Why/how could this have an effect on the idle?

    Revving at idle

Started the Honda up this morning and things went awry. When I start it, it starts to revs up and down. See video. I'm not even sure where to start. Has anyone else ever seen this? What could it be? Any help you can provide is appreciated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-73eoBC2PQ

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Changed the seals and cleaned out the tunnels and still had a problem with misfires in cylinders 1 and 6. Picked up new coil packs for 1 and 6 and all is back to normal. As it turns out, cylinders 1 and 6 were the only ones without oil down them. Go figure.

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Probably. I certainly didn't pay as much attention last time as I did this time getting those seals on properly when reinstalling the valve covers. The back side, facing the firewall, was a PITA.

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Yes. I took the valve covers off last night and the seals are the culprit. 4 of 6 were shot.

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Just pulled a coil from the backside. Here's what it looked like.

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Not that you can tell what's going on inside with a picture of the outside, but here's where I'm at. You can see there was enough oil in the middle plug tunnel that it leaked out and down onto the exhaust shield. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Oil in the spark plug tunnels?

Been having some problems with my 3.0L '02 sedan having random misfires. It just recently got a lot worse. Took the intake plenum off to clean the EGR ducting and it looked good. Started to take the coil packs out and a few were sealed/air tight in the tunnels. I pulled them out and they had a...

Things are getting worse. Still has the sputter like in the video I posted. The sputter is really effecting the performance. From idle to 3k-3.5k I can really flog it and get a very weak response. Once it spins up to 3-3.5k it really goes like it should. I talked to a local auto parts store...
