How can we get 6thgen more activity?

This is a common lament on every online forum, regardless of its specialty. Activity waxes and wanes; knowledgeable folks come and go; posts languish or inspire discourse; people contribute or find interest elsewhere... etc etc. My point: the reasons forum activity varies are many, legitimate...

Drivebelt still tight after moving tensioner, won’t come off

The belt will go slack the instant the tensioner is relieved. If the belt is remains tight, then the friction of the belt grooves ribs is the likely culprit. Just cut the belt. Belts are relatively inexpensive.

    Front Caliper Not Retracting

2000 Accord LX 154k miles The front passenger caliper on this car won't retract. I'm stumped what might be the cause. We've relegated this Accord to "seldom-used" status, so every month or so I drive it around the neighborhood for a mile run. During my most recent circuit, I noticed after...

    T'shooting Transmission Solenoid Assembly

If by "did I replace" you refer to the A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A/B Assembly specifically, then yes... I did replace. The effect was... buttkiss. First, though, I removed the existing--and original--solenoid valve assembly and cleaned the clogged screens inside both return...

"moving to florida makes me think I wont need this anymore" The OP probably discovered it rains in Florida also.

    T'shooting Transmission Solenoid Assembly

I’m working through the A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve A/B Assembly test procedure listing in the Honda Service Manual (HSM), followed by the Lock-up Control Solenoid Valve - Shift Control Solenoid Valve A Assembly test. My question concerns resistance readings on one of the...

OPINION: Aftermarket Keyless Entry/Remote Starter Devices

2000 Honda Accord LX V6 150k miles My stalwart 2000 Accord is an LX model, which means no keyless entry. I've endured two decades of inconvenience; now I wants keyless entry and remote ignition as well. So I'm researching various aftermarket products that offer a device that combines these two...

OTC 7448A Fuel Injection Cleaner Tool

Thanks for the follow-up. I'm honestly not certain of the consensus regarding the interval between this sort of service; though I'm certain solvent retailers would eagerly recommend frequent dosing. What I'm trying to garner is the efficacy of this sort of solvent delivery method on the...

OTC 7448A Fuel Injection Cleaner Tool

Thanks for your reply. Since you have some experience with this tool, do you think the expense of owning the thing would be offset by used as part of a routine maintenance regime; like use it at each oil change, for example?

OTC 7448A Fuel Injection Cleaner Tool

Anyone have experience with the OTC 7448A Fuel Injection Cleaner tool? This thing is purpose-built to connect directly to the fuel rail (or just at the damper with an adapter) where it bypasses the fuel system and delivers fuel injector solvent under pressure (either their propriety brew...

Retrofit Manual Climate Control with Auto

Retrofit Manual Climate Control with Auto

2000 Accord LXv6 While sitting in traffic my eyes lit on my manual climate control. And I wondered... Anyone know if the auto climate control unit (79600-S84-A41ZA) is harness/bolt-compatible with the manual control (79600-S84-A01ZA)? I realize the bezel would need to be changed from...

    Exhaust smell inside the cabin

We're drifting off-topic here with the "engine swap" and "timing belt" tangents--and i'm contributing to it. If a discussion ensues on this topic, forklift it from this "Urgent - Help Quick" sub-forum into an appropriate sub-forum. with that caveat... TANGENT An engine swap is a major job, as...

    Exhaust smell inside the cabin

By my math, that means you need to plan on a "timing belt job" in ~15k--perhaps sooner if 1) you cannot confirm via documentation the milage the , and 2) you cannot confirm via documentation that the timing belt and related parts are OEM. I raise this issue 'cause it bears mentioning in light...

    Exhaust smell inside the cabin

B'woof... dealerships. Avoid them. Espouse the sage insight of George Castanza. Feeding the thing oil is sensible. Soooo when you wrote you're "going to do nothing", you ACTUALLY meant to write "I'm gonna order those three things from Amazon RIGHT NOW, gather up my garden hose, goggles and...

    Exhaust smell inside the cabin

perzactly! the thing with oil is... it goes everywhere! warm moving air pushes warm oil against warm surfaces, where it spreads out and into every nook and crannie. the simplest step in locating oil leaks is the step most folks skip. when t'shooting oil leaks, ya gotta start with a clean...

Car revving up on its own

the ECU is in the center console, mounted above the "hump"; you typically access it from either the driver or passenger side kick panel. that said, you don't need to go near the ECU for any reason. your buddy is wrong. cutting power to the ECU will clear the DTC codes, but it will not "clear...

Car revving up on its own

the presence of DTC's is interesting. it's not unusual to get those three DTC's in combination. (for example, they can result from the throttle position sensor (TPS) being "stuck" due to extreme and/or sustained low ambient temps. there are other causes. however, interestingly if any or all of...

    Exhaust smell inside the cabin

that odor inside the car... i presume it's still present (unless you set the climate control to recycle cabin air). so, in retrospect would you now characterize it as a burnt oil odor, rather than exhaust smell? i'm gonna guess: yes. the two odors are distinct and near-impossible to confuse. i...

    Heat-Soak Issue... a solution.

If you've found your way to this thread, your venerable 6th Gen Accord is probably experiencing the gremlin known as "heat soak"--which, in turn, causes a "hard start condition"--and/or its more insidious companion, the dreaded "random misfire" (P030x) DTC code. First some backstory into this...
