Well the first thing is that its an auto with a turbo....our auto transmissions are terrible, and it probably won't last long. Second thing, unless you can get a lot of information on who built the motor, what parts (brands) they used, who tuned it, etc; I'd stay away from it.

Personally I wouldn't buy it, because I enjoy doing the modifications myself.

oh its that car...small world :lawl:

if it runs like ****...why even consider it? if youre going to do a K swap later (by the way, which has never been completed though there is one swap in progress) why not just buy a cheap car off CL with a bad trans? even a good running 6th gen in very good mechanical and physical shape would be $4-5k.

think about it...who knows what's been done to it or what needs fixing? if it smells like gas, think about what all may need replacing. and if it bogs...you ready to troubleshoot the turbo system? what if its not the turbo but the trans? or something else?

my rules for buying a car:
1. no modifications
2. no evidence of previous modifications
3. dont buy someone's project car unless you want to redo everything they've touched :lawl:

you can tell soooooooo much about a car by knowing what it should look like and the limits of acceptability (body panels not lining up...especially the rear bumper for example, are common with these). the front end conversion wouldnt even worry me, to be honest, unless you can see it was crashed.

i've begun to look at battery cables to see if a car has been modified. thats a dead giveaway since people chop off the stock terminals and reuse the wires with aftermarket terminals...etc :lawl:

"Selling for a friend"...makes me hesitant. This guy can claim he knows nothing if you ask a question, liiike "this car has a 98-00 front end, why is it advertised as a 2001?". "**** I don't know!"

I would never buy a modified car in the first place, unless I knew the person that worked on it and they'd be around to help me with any problems that came up, OR if it was by some reknowned shop. I'd stay away. Take the extra money you would've spent buying this car over a stock one, and build it yourself.

I feel dumb... how can you tell it has a 98 front end? The rear tails would be more telling... but the front has a different bumper o_O

Yeah but I am looking for something more local. Its hard to know what youre getting out of state.

i disagree especially when it comes to moneypits and shahid car. just take it to the performance shop they get that car tuned out and have them look over the whole car and ask them about it.

when i bought my accord i was in AL for winter break, drove to GA to look at the car, had a mechanic down the street look it over, bought it, and drove the 3.5 hrs back to AL. then eventually drove back to GA for school. A friend of mine drove from kentucky to florida to buy a car then drove it all the way back and the cars doing great.

i'm just trying to say buying out of state really is no difference. there are mechanics everywhere. All i do when i buy a car is look at the carfax report then have a mechanic look over the car

:ughrun: Stay away

Take $5k, buy a stock Accord, and take that other $5k to mod yourself. Much more satisfying, and you know everything about whats going on with your ride!
