Personally I would use 1/4 aluminum for a plate. It's lightweight and does not throw large amounts of sparks. it can be quite spendy for material

3/8 is way too thick. I'm running a 3/16th in aluminum sheet 3x3. No sparks and lightweight. If you're slammed and don't do spirited driving and don't car about weight, I would suggest 1/4in steel 3x3 sheet. That's what I'm doing for my next plate

You would only need a skid plate if your car was lowered more then 2"

Im lowered on ebay coils and ive scraped the middle of my car over many speedbumps cause some are high...

More and more I'm thinking I'm going to need to do this myself. Next time the car is up, can you please snap a picture of its underside. Wanted to see the mounting sites.
