cut it so it ends right about where mine does:

but instead of putting the filter on there, put the bypass valve.

then connect the other half of the pipe you cut off.

it should perform the same, but protects your engine in case water gets in to the intake.

IMO, this mod sound quite good. totally un-noticeable for everyday driving, but has a little growl at high rpm's, WOT.

hey, i am new to these forums, i am from V6P,

but i removed the resonator on a 2001 I4 Accord, and wondering where you bought that pipe.

i don't have my resonator anymore, i think i gave it to a junkyard...

you mean this one, right?

it normally is attached to the top of the resonator to suck the air in.

you really don't need it. just hack off the bottom portion of the airbox to get as much flow as possible.

you will get better airflow if you just cut off the bottom of the airbox.

if you really want some kind of piping, just go to a hardware store.

i bought a new rubber gasket and hose clamps when i did this.

you could also get a small portion of straight pvc and a 90 bend.

should cost less than 10 bucks.

but you're still going to get better airflow without (and the bottom cut off).

just hit 100k and stumbled across this thread while changing out my air filter. here's my finished box:

my two cents:
* i had no idea how giant the resonator was
* removing the pins underneath the bumper can be a pain if you've bottomed out several times and scratched them beyond function
* my garage gremlin loves to hide bumper screws
* intake sounds good - glad i didn't spend money on a SRI
