Those of us who seek better performances from our cars face the sad reality of wheel hop. I've been searching around a bit on how to reduce wheel hop on our cars. This is just a summary. I have linked relevant threads at the end of this post.

None of the pictures below is mine.
Here are the avalaible options

Traction bar
This complete system replaces the original front subframe and radius rods, eliminating bushings from radius rod and subframe and replacing the front mount by a metal rod.

This is the one made by ESP.net. Review here

Engine torque damper - inside
This is a shock-absorber that absorbs engine hop and vibrations of powerful engines, resulting in a smoother ride and more efficient acceleration.

It comes with a kit for installation. may require some light fabrication

Polyurethane bushings
This option consists of replacing all front rubber bushings by polyurethane ones. Unfortunately none are avalaible for the 6GA. LCA Poly bushings made for the 5GA will fit also the 6GA since OEM LCA bushings from both cars have the same part no. It is probable that other bushings from the 5GA will fit too.

Stiff/filled motor & trans mounts
fill oem mounts with automotive polyurethane to stiffen them and revive them. this mimics urethane mounts

Re: How to reduce wheel hop

Reducing slack in suspension components is far more effective at reducing wheel hop than engine mounts. It's the load/unload cycle with soft components that creates wheel hop, hence the reason traction bars with solid (no rubber) joints are so effective.

The most effective component to replace in my experience are the radius rod bushings. MOOG Part # K9733 will run you less than $25 shipped and replace your worn rubber bushings with much harder urethane ones to better control the wheels' tendency to load/unload rapidly when accelerating rapidly.

Re: How to reduce wheel hop

I have plans to replace radius rod bushings on my accord. IDK why I didn't mention it. Thx for the input.

You almost did, without actually saying it. It's highlighted in the diagram you posted, and then you went into bushings. :)

Re: How to reduce wheel hop

Werd, I have yet to experience hop on this car, did on 4g civics (xci = 91, ed6=usdm civic hatch dx), then I went traction bars on that. Wouldn't touch that thing though, either make one correctly or new moog bushings preload if/when needed.

Re: How to reduce wheel hop

Are the rear sway bar end links between 5th and 6th gen the same part# just like the LCA bushings?

the ESP traction bar is the most expensive, but best approach? Anyone have any feed back on it?

Re: How to reduce wheel hop

Thinking about replacing front bushing w/ heim pillow ball w/ stock arms...

Rly heavier bushings would be nice.
