On behalf of 6thGenAccord.com, Acurazine and the Toronto Accord Club I would like to officially announce 2011's CanAm Cruise in Agawam Massachusetts

Right now Myself, Kevin (Goldnknight22), Ryan (eggs) and Carrie (CarrieLynn) are just about done with all of the planning.

Hotel Accomodations:

Red Roof Inn
1254 Riverdale Street
West Springfield, MA

This is more of a "budget" hotel with very basic amenities.

Room With Two Queen Beds: $59.99/night
Room With One Queen Bed: $55.99/night

Residence Inn by Marriott
64 Border Way
West Springfield, MA

This hotel is literally right behind the Red Roof, and is much nicer. The rooms at Residence Inn's are "apartment style" meaning they have kitchens with appliances, nice beds, flat screens and sleep at least four people.

Large "Studio" Room - Occupancy: 4 - 1 King, 1 Sofabed, 2 Rollaway beds permitted - $159/night
One Bedroom Suite - Occupancy: 4 - 1 Queen, 1 Sofabed, 1 Rollaway bed permitted - $159/night
Two Bedroom Suite - Occupancy: 6 - 2 Queens, 1 Sofabed, 2 Rollaway beds permitted - $229/night

Itinerary thus far:

Friday, August 19th 2011

  • People will be coming in from out of town, so we will plan dinner and drinks at a restaurant close to the hotels which is TBD.

Saturday, August 20th 2011 - Meet & Cruise Day

9:30am

Where:

Italian Sporting Club
349 Cooper Street
Agawam, MA 01001

What: Car show, BBQ, Chinese Raffle to benefit Komen For The Cure.

Cost:
Mandatory $10 donation per car (not per person). This will cover entry into the meet/show, participation in the cruise and a raffle ticket. All proceeds after overhead (food cost, venue rental, promotional items, raffle prizes, etc) will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Breast Cancer Awareness).
3:30pm

  • We leave the Italian Sporting Club for a one hour cruise through the hills and back roads of Western Massachusetts. The cruise route has already been planned out and it's going to be awesome.

4:30 - 5:00pm

  • Everyone will rendezvous at the Agawam Junior High School after the cruise. Reason for this is that people will be broken up into groups of 8-10 cars led by a CanAm Coordinator familiar with the cruise route. This is where everyone will meet up before we break off.

5:30 - 8:00pm

  • For people staying overnight, this will be the time for you to get back to your hotel rooms, rest a bit, and get cleaned up for dinner, drinks and shenanigans.

8:00pm - ??:?? Dinner and drinks at Hooters of West Springfield

  • I picked this location because for one, it's awesome, but more so because it's located literally right next door to the Red Roof Inn and the Residence Inn. It's a two minute walk, or five to ten minute stumble from the front door of Hooters to your hotel room. So there will be no need to worry about drinking and driving because you won't have to!! If you can't walk, Carrielynn with be providing piggyback rides from the restaurant to the hotel for 25 cents.

Cruise Route:

G: End - Agawan Jr. High School

In the mean time, I need volunteers in the New England area to assist as Coordinators.

Duties of coordinators will be to help setup the meet/show, cook, break everything down, and lead groups of cars for the cruise. IIRC, the entire one hour cruise route has MAYBE three traffic lights, and I think two stop signs so it will be pretty easy to keep everyone together. The cruise leaders are just a precaution. I am friends with the Mayor of Agawam so I'm going to try and arrange an escort out of Agawam because that is where it is the most congested. I will also have authorization from the town to use the Junior High School as our rendezvous point, so we will have cooperation from local law enforcement. Because of this it will also be your responsibility to make sure everyone is on their best behavior.

Burn outs, mAd tYtE drIfTz and other general douchebaggery WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

If you want to volunteer as a coordinator please PM me or email jbmiller616 at gmail dot com

outch, late may, we will loose a few people from CAQ since they will still be at school. wasn't the reason why it was in june before??
I'll post details on CAQ, MTLRacing and QSR to get reaction.
Also, to this point, if we want to ride with TAC, we will need to leave all from Mtl and meet somewhere in Albany Area.

I would have to agree that May 21 is too early, and seeing as how May 24 is a holiday up here, I think there may be a number of people who will be out of town on that weekend.

In for explanation of May date, plzkthxbai.

Here is where we're at with CanAm and dates.....

That weekend in May is literally the ONLY weekend I'm available to do anything, and June is booked solid as well. Carrie also has prior engagements in June, and Kevin is planning a wedding in July.

So here are our options as I see them:

1. Instead of this being a "kick off the season" meet, we make this a "wind down the season meet" and do it in August.

2. Carrie, Kevin and myself step down as organizers, and someone else from the US steps up to handle this for a date that is convenient for the Canadians.

3. The Canada guys can take care of planning this and have it in Niagara, NY or Buffalo.

4. The Canada guys can take care of planning this and have it in Canada like past years. Maybe some US people will show.

I am open to whatever, but just like I told you (Derek) in the email I just sent you, TWO of my best friends are getting married this spring/summer and I am in the wedding party in one of them. Bachelor parties, wedding showers and weddings all take priority over a car meet. Like I said before, I want to attend CanAm this year just like everyone else, but sacrifices are going to have to be made if we are going to do it in the US. And right now, I'm thinking that having the meet in late August is going to be the best thing for everyone. We know the weather will be nice, we know people will be out of school, and we know that everything will be planned RIGHT.

That is where we're at. Four choices. Pick one.

Mr. Miller, hadn't seen your response email yet, but.....you table an interesting proposal........"end of season event as an alternate option".

That may not actually be half bad, TBH, perhaps the first weekend in August.

Dany, if you haven't already, see what the CAQ guys think of that, and if they are willing to go down in August.

As an aside, Justin, you are putting alot of effort in to these weddings and stuff.......not sure how "wedding showers and weddings all take priority over a car meet"......this is no ordinary meet! :lawl: You know I'm playing and I couldn't agree with you more.
