hearing a slight click when reverse is engaged

Are we sure it's not the parking pin disengaging and the car releasing the pressure it had on the pin. I can always here my pin if I listen for it, but it definitely makes noise if I park on a grade without setting e-brake. It could be in bad shape if it's rolled up against the pin really hard a lot.
