I don't have that ring, at least not on the forks that my tokicos currently reside in. I'll have to check my stock forks to see if they have it.

Thanks civic-vti-type! I didn't think this was a method, but I guess it is! After all these years lol.

Hopefully it's not exclusive to overseas (European) models, I'd like to see someone try this on OEM USDM struts...

Old thread bump!

Just did as civic_vti_type_ suggested on my '99 LX. The rings popped off after a few blows with a bronze hammer. There are no spot welds holding the rings on, it's purely an interference fit. I still had to grind the forks about 15 minutes per side before things fit. Coated the inside of the forks with a thick axle grease to (hopefully) abate the rust.
