This may be turned into an official "THE Radar Detector Review Thread" but for now I am just curious as to how many of you use radar detectors, what brand are they and your opinions on the product.

i had a 12 band Cobra until it got stolen
but it saved my hide plenty of times
like doing 98 from fort walton florida to shreveport made easy
looking to buy a new one soon.

i voted no cause i don't have one anymore...but years ago in highschool/college i used a Beltronics radar detector....it worked good...prolly saved me but i drove faster with it than without it...and got 1 ticket with it...

i don't have one..and probably never will get one..i rarely drive over the speed limit...so no reason to get one

i use to have valentine 1 2 yrs ago then switch to escort passport 8500 ..i dont use it often unles i travel from state to state so i let my homboi use it until i needed it back

i had one in my old accord and in my gti. i still have it, its a beltronics 995, its saved me a few times. but i just didnt feel like putting it in this time cuz i honestly drive better without it.

i wouldn't use one, simply because i know i would end up with a speeding ticket eventually....only reason i would need one is if i were consistently going over the speed limit, and i don't have the mindset to be actively going over the speed limit on purpose.

Not any more. I changed my highway driving habits so I average 65 mph or less to get in the high 30s mpg. 37 mpg and 39 mpg my last few road trips.

It's fun seeing ppl that pass me get pulled over a few minutes later. :D

i use it and i love it. I don't depend on it but its nice to know if a cops in the area with a radar.

But i have a escort 9500i and I'm thinking about upgrading to the 9500ix
