Im sorta in the market for a decent tripod. On another forum, this guy is selling his Manfrotto 3221WN with the 804-RC2 head. Based on what I've read, this thing is kinda heavy lol

Any recommendations?

yea, I kinda figured. I dont want a $30 tripod holding up $500+ worth of gear. Ever hear anything about the 3221WN? From my understanding, its the "wilderness" type tripod leg...The head im ok with though

get one that doesnt need the center column extended when your camera is on top and youre standing upright.

personally...im not a fan of B/M quick release plates and there are other options for less or better ones for the same price.

when i get around to buying one...im getting the vanguard elite trekker 4.

unless youre 6'3" like i am, you could probably get away with the elite 1. just measure your height to your eyes, then measure from the cameras eyepiece to its bottom and take that away from your height. thats how tall your tripod should be without the center column extended.

itll make for a heavy and long tripod, but the bigger ones are more stable.

^ a 3-way head is pretty boring after you experience a ball head...

I have a Bogen/Manfrotto 150 or 190 something with lever lock legs and I like it... a lot.

I also have a Smith-Victor ballhead.... probably the nicest cheap ballhead out there will fully machined metal construction for $50.
