Quick easy way.

1. Remove center counsel.
2. Grab foaming window cleaner, spray that **** down.
3. Wipe away all the dirt and stuff.
4. WD40 or some lube on any moving parts in the shifter.
5. Reassemble.

I use "Tuff Stuff" for this kind of application. Spray on, let foam break up the stuff and wipe clean. Works GREAT on MOST carpet spills. Coke spills come right up and many other things!

http://www.amazon.com/STP-Stuff-Multi-Purpose-Cleaner-aerosol/dp/B0002KL7KK There's an example, but it's probably $3.99 at Walmart with no $5.00 shipping :p.

As far as removing the center console. It's not too bad. I did it in an hour (dis-assembly, cleaning, reassembly). Google for some How-to's!
