I don't want to go too off topic, but the rim is actually the outer part of the wheel that the tire sits on. The whole thing (not with the tire), is the wheel.

This picture may explain it better:

This is a diagram of the parts of a wheel. Notice that the rim is the outermost part of the wheel. It is part of the wheel, not the entirety of it.

its a colloquialism...you cant have a "wheel" without a "rim." you just have a "face" otherwise. some people call the rim a "hoop" or "barrel."

now if we want to get into truly non-interchangeable terms (one that drives me up the wall)...an "engine" isn't a "motor" :squintrun:

If that's not what you were referring to, then yes, you are correct. I didn't get it....other than you pointing out that it wasn't an urgent need.
