Re: Chivalry, is it dead?

My girlfriend and I have been dating for 2 years and for a majority of the first year I paid for everything, but after a while we didnt really keep track of who paid last, but really who had money on them and what we were getting, and occasionally I would pay some of her stuff. Like when we go out and we both are eating, I will pay, but sometimes lets say when I come home from college and I had already eaten before leaving school and she justs wants to get something, she will usually pay and sometimes I will treat if I have enough cash on me. But every once in a while I get her some gifts (Uggs, jewelry, other clothes and stuff) so when it comes to little stuff it isnt really a big deal who pays. We dont keep track. THAT IS THE WORST THING. We dont mind spending money on each other no matter what and thats the right way to do it.

As a girlfriend, please do not expect us to pay all the time or offer. This should be subconscious understanding. If you really care about each other, dollars and cents dont matter. Relationships should be seamless is they are to work.

just my two cents

Re: Chivalry, is it dead?

its only been a month and she's already afraid to talk to him? sorry but she needs to go ahead and end it. the kids too immature to realize how to treat a girl.

personally, i normally pay for my own food and my gf pays for hers cause it was easier than keeping track of who paid last. but we've been dating for 2 years and at the beginning i paid for everything

I agree. A relationship should never be a scorecard.

This guy just seems like he either doesn't know better or doesn't care. Your friend should have a serious talk about it. If he gives her a hard time without a good reason then maybe its not meant to be.

I completely agree. But relationships do have a natural progression, they have only been together for a month and like i said before he has paid for her ONCE. I think there is a period at the beginning of a relationship and even before that where a guy should pay, its called courting. Once you are down into year 2,3,4 it doesnt matter and you shouldnt keep track of who pays.
