On Drive Accord forum I read a thread that said Ford had provided a lot of parts to Honda in the late 90s/early 00s on the production of the Honda Accord. Honda had announced in 1998 that this would be the first "American Accord" with 90% of the materials being domestic products.
I know this generation is the first USDM Accord while the prior accords were all true Japanese vehicles, but the US version was used in several Asian markets like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia / New Zealand.
Can this be the reason why the 6th gen Accord suffered from several issues like the tranny problems and interior problems like rattling and the hard touch plastic dashboard? Are all these ****ty GM produc issues?
What was Honda thinking when they partnered up with Ford?
