thanks fellas. going to miss her a lot.

let me know. i'm still practicing since i haven't been taking any pictures ever since my photography class. i'm getting a new lens soon also so i'm excited. btw, all of my pictures is taken with manual mode due to my cheap-*** lens. haha
If you're using flash I don't see any need for shooting wide open. With the
1.8 aperture the depth of field is EXTREMELY shallow. Eyes should be the
focal point for portraits and with that aperture setting the depth of field can
be so shallow that even when properly focused something as close as an ear
can start to be out of focus.

Not sure if you were trying to focus on the eyes, but it appears that you
slightly missed focus (and the 1.8 aperture makes this even worse). You can
see in some of them the dress/stairs/shirt/etc are much sharper than the
eyes/face of the subject.

If you are focus locking and then pausing for any amount of time either you or
the subject could move and with the shallow depth of field the shot will be
slightly out of focus. Also make sure you set the camera to focus where you
want it to, not let it choose itself. Normally it will probably focus on the
closest object.

But I'm not a portrait photographer, so

Roy...don't do it.

The pictures are great and are pretty well composed. No complaints from me. Perhaps upping the aperture to around 2.6 or so might help out since you'll get a deeper DOF. Other then that, looking good. Such an adorable subject :D
