Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find much info comparing the two. Ive been doing some research recently on swapping a CL-S 6 speed into my AV6 and have been seeing that a lot of people opt to swap in a J32 as opposed to keeping the J30, and I'd like to know why? I don't know much about the J32 but isn't the block the same as the J30, and its nothing more than an enlarged stroke giving minimal gains compared to the J30 and compared to the added cost of engine replacement instead of only replacing the transmission? Is the J32 really that much better than the J30?

There are quite a few perks about the 3.2 versus the 3.0 - more aggressive cam, better air flow design, among others . If you are going to spend the time and money just swap the 3.5 and 6 speed.

Huge difference!

Actually has a real VTEC system and not the economy version
Higher compression 9.4 vs 10.5
Better flowing heads 36mm intake valve vs 34mm intake for J30, cams better too
Higher flowing intake manifold, tricked out top compression rings on the CLS pistons.

Basically much better flow
200cc more of displacement
1 full point higher in compression

Stock your looking at 260hp vs 200, The J32 can easily go up to 300, J30 not so much haha.

J32/J35 is better and bigger.

J30 was good in its days, but no more. I highly recommend you go J32 or J35 along with your 6-speed.

The J32 is an extraordinarily engineered motor that was revolutionary when Acura brought it out. I've got an article on it I'll try to find, it's pretty interesting. Basically takes what Accord_V6_400 said and explains it in detail.

Simple version, J32 is way more advanced than the J30.
