Has anyone ever change their distributor, cap and rotor by urself before??

I just went to the shop today to find out where my oil leak was coming from and the guy said it was leaking from my distributor and said to change my distributor, distributor cap and rotor. He is a my friend dad so he gave me a price of $260 which includes labor and parts. What do u think??

I kno if i do it myself, i'll save about $100 maybe more.....but i was wondering if its easy or hard to do.

Oil leaking from your distributor???

Do it yourself if you have to change it, it'll take you 15 min, and cost you about $50 in parts......

Get a new distributor gasket.

+1

a dizzy is expensive, so save urself some $$$ and replace just the seal.. if u have been getting crappy gas mileage, replace the cap and rotor as well if they look bad or have not been changed for the longest time

it happens all the time... seals are rubber, and rubber gets hard and crack after some time... just replace it and go from there

sounds like the valve cover gasket maybe leaking oil onto the distributor cap. My car has 227,000 and never had this type of leak.

Changing the cap and rotor is very easy. Its litterally plug and play
