I've been reading across the posts but haven't found anything yet. I have a autotragic 01 accord ex but I'm pursuing 5 speed to go along with my boosted setup. What is the purpose of the intermediate shaft and do I need one?

the shaft is a must. unless you only want one axle hooked up to your tranny.

Thank you all for your input. The last question is can I use the original driver side axle or do I need another one. Currently the passenger side is longer than the driver side since it was an auto.

You still didn't look hard enough. Also your drivers side should currently be longer than your passenger side, not the other way around.
