I bought the Haynes manual and they have it so you'd drop the entire engine/cradle unit and lift the car over it and on other forums, they suggest lifting the engine out with a engine hoist. Anybody have experience? Which is 'easiest/best?

Ive swapped a few 6th gens its really better for me, since im a under the shade tree mechanic, to lift engine out rather than dropping sub to remove. To each his own

I like dropping them, at work with my $40k+ in snap-on, at home I have no hoist, lifting motor aint bad.

Lifted mine out for my swap, V6 and trans at once. The I4 is smaller and lighter, should be pretty simple to hoist it out.

I find it easier to lift it but not everyone has access to one .. I've done it both ways numerous times .. I think we figured it saved us maybe 20 mins lifting it
