Its a cool concept but some of these pictures would just look a heck of a lot taken during the day. The composition on some is terrible. There are a lot of them that I thought were really neat and I would love to try this.

i tried that once. ended up all grainy.

^^i dunno what camera you used or settings but long exposures do introduce more noise(grain). it just depends on how well the camera can control it.
I've taken a few pictures after midnight but nothing like thos.
