as i was washing my car today i notice that some sort of clear coat on my headlights are cracking off. What would be the effects of this and how can i fix it? Is this why headlights become hazy? any help appreciated!

its a film to help prevent UV damage. they all start to peel off eventually. polishing the lens and putting on some kind of sealant might make it less noticeable but i'm not sure. it'll at least provide some protection.

You cant just wet sand the clear off and not replace it. Why not just buy a replacement OEM style headlights. They are pretty cheap and look new.
