Looking to upgrade from the 6th gen, any ideas?

Sup guys I have been a long time lurker here but never made an account until now. I am looking to upgrade from the 6th gen and was wondering what some ideas you guys had to what I should upgrade to. I am looking to spend the most 15kish, maybeeeee a little more if it is worth it. It would have to be FWD or AWD since I live in a snowy area and this will be my daily driver/only car. I really wanted to get a used 2013 FR-S but since it is RWD ill probably end up in a ditch with all the hills that are here

Edit: looking for a smaller car since I find them so much more fun to drive than bigger cars. So sedans and coupes.

you'd be fine in the frs as long as you have a decent set of snow tires, and you definitely need them.

Yeah? Thanks for the input! I would like to see what rides other members recommend, but hearing this from an frs owner is great!

FWD i would go TL Type S but if you want AWD maybe a subie? Lol but like sketch said your pretty much good if you have good snow tires, and if you wanna be the roadmaster in the snow just get studded tires.

AWD kills any 2wd in snow. My Tundra hauls *** in the snow with just all season tires. The handling and control is 100 times better and much safer.

I would look at any acura with the SHAWD.

Yeah I should have specified. Mainly im looking for smaller cars since I find them so much more fun to drive than bigger cars. So mainly sedans and coupes if its nice enough. Yeah subaru seems to fit what I am looking for, but some reason I actually hate the look of subarus lol.

Thanks for the input I appreciate it!

Re: Looking to upgrade from the 6th gen, any ideas?

This may be biased as it's the next car i'm purchasing but try checking out 8th gen accords! Especially the V6 6-speed ones. Drove a bunch of them and every time loved the response, and they're also well under 15k. You'd be set with an excellent condition one for around 8k, which leaves about 7 to fiddle with for other endeavors. 15k is a big window to look for used cars with, but here's a quick list to check out all in budget:

-Acura TL (04-10)
-Acura TSX 6MT
-Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (08-14)
-Golf GTI

Also as a side note maybe reconsider RWD cars. My brother has had a miata the past 4 years and just used good winter tires and makes it up our crazy hills no problem. (We live around the Bear Mountain area) In the end whatever floats your boat more, you mentioned the FRS before, i'm sur eif you really loved the car enough you'd be able to make it happen when it came to driving in the snow.

Happy car hunting!

Re: Looking to upgrade from the 6th gen, any ideas?

Those Crosstreks look pretty neat. Not fast by any means, and you can only get a stick in the lower two trim levels. You get alot of utility for the low 20s and the AWD meets your snow requirement. I might be moving to Massachusetts soon and it's on my short list.
