Considering it takes 2.6 quarts total if you're just doing a fluid change, you might want to drain a bit out.

I check the manual on how to check trans fluid on a V6. It said to turn the engine off.
do you keep your engine on or off when check the trans fluid?

Run your car for a few seconds then shut it off and check your level (good rule of thumb is within 10 seconds). Assuming your engine is still cold it should be on the lower mark otherwise it will be on the upper mark if its hot. Sounds like you over filled if you put that much in on a drain and fill, like stated above you will want to get the excess out before driving.
