Hey guys, i blew my motor about 2 years ago and swapped it from the regular F23 to one with a black valve cover, does anybody know the difference? I've already googled and asked around.....

Thanks.

yeah, Ones black and ones silver/gray.
Black one was probably painted by owner.
What's the block number? F23a?

With respect you guys are actually wrong. If you google the F23A engine you'll see it came in the silverish one and a black one. So it does exist, doubt it was painted.

Okay they have the same specs; only way it would be different if the engine code said otherwise on the block, but you already said its f23 so.......

I google image searched it and there are a lot of f23a engines with black valve covers, but all of the black ones are listed as "from Japan" or "JDM."
Could that have anything to do with it?

Maybe Honda just wanted to offer 2 different valve cover colors. Not everything has to be complicated. I don't think there is a difference to be honest.
