With that said, though, and with all seriousness, I think you should reconsider those goals. I am intimately familiar with the stats in regards to physician anesthesiologists (DO's and MD's) and addiction, and the dismal reality is that 1/3 of them end up trying/abusing hardcore prescription medications before their career ends. With your "affinity for drugs," as you put it, choosing the field of anesthesiology as a career is no better than choosing to befriend and spend majority of your time with addicts who actively do drugs in your presence, and in all reality, it may be worse because the medications associated with medicine hide behind a cloak of deceit that whispers "they aren't as bad because they are prescribed everyday."

I know that you are likely very confident in your ability to resist temptation, but just remember - 1 in 3 of the numerous anesthesiologists that lose their license, family, respect, and/or life did too. With your history, there is no environment that you could place yourself into that could surpass the temptation you will be exposed to in the field of anesthesia.

Hey man, thanks for looking out for meh! There is a lot of truth to what you said and until you said it, I hadn't really thought about it. I am so far from reaching that goal that I don't think about the end result that often. But anyways, yea the risk is always there for that when you work in medicine no matter how far along you are and no matter if you've done drugs or not, ya know? And yea John nailed it, I do have a great support system. I dont really think about that stuff anymore. Its been 6 years on May 4th that I have done a drug and I thank God all the time for it. I don't consider myself a very strong person, in fact im kinda emo and get butt hurt real easy BUT, for me, to know how I am weak is what makes me strong. So that siad, if any time I am tempted I call myself out on it and walk away and or tell someone. Thanks for asking though man!

Sidenote: I am one class closer to getting there!

Re: Your dream job....

I like to think i have have my dream job. I worked at a independent automotive shop for about 2 years then moved into a dealership when a friend told me about a bay beside him opening up. So even though i life my Accord, i pay the bills by tearing apart Toyotas, Lexus' and Scions all day.

Re: Your dream job....

My own automotive performance shop. Mainly specialize in imports but work on almost anything with an engine. Nothing too crazy at first, just something with 2 or 3 employees and enough money to support my hobbies and future family.
Currently going to school for independent shop, advanced automotive and professional sales. I plan on having the shop open around age 25, so only about 4 years away.

Re: Your dream job....

Now I do nothing.

But I want to be the new Soichiro, I have many awesome ideas. I prefer to share them, and get paid only enough to have more.

Re: Your dream job....

With me, my dream job was to do stuff with computer programing. Fixing them and what not. Got into java language and stopped there when i got my first car. Started fixing the car up and now im into cars but i love computers. I would like to take my knowledge of computers and cars and mix them. Like making car models on the computer or certain parts. I dont know where to start with this. Maybe goto college for cad. But who knows im only 20 and i work in the deli and hate it. But it pays the bills. Going to college soon in spring or if i can drop a few pounds soon im going into the military for mechanics or computers. What ever tickles my fancy at the time of the choice.
