Ohhh that makes sense. So what about the red cable that comes separately? Do I connect it to the switch and that goes directly to the car battery?

The Red wire should connect to a yellow wire with like a slip in connector that red wire runs thru the firewall to the switch plug.
One red wire with a fuse and relay that connects to the battery wire under the hood fuse box. You may wanna disconnect the battery before you break a fuse.
