Yeah dude, I think it's the automatic transmission. No check valve solenoid should cause this. You can try changing your torque converter risking it not working correctly since the original should always be used with the original transmission or have it rebuilt before you buy a new torque converter AND factor in another 9-10 quarts of ATF fluid since it's all coming out if you decide to change your torque converter or even taking it out. And if that doesn't work, well then...it could be a million things. Even a simple fix like a solenoid. This would have ran me about $300+ and some labor. I went the 5spd route, complete for $500. And boy do I love the 5spd. I really hope anyone out there can figure it out, and I hope you do to Ryan. I really do bro.
