I just bought a 2001 Accord Coupe F23A1 manual with 162,000 Miles. The previous owner said they used regular 5W20 for oil changes cause the owner manual says it in Canada. I have a bunch of bottles of Synthetic Quaker State 5W30 left I want to use but don't want to mess up the pattern.

Should I use Synthetic 5W30 or keep using regular 5W20? I live in Canada where it gets very hot in summer (86 F) and very cold in winter (-22 F)

stay with 5w20 and you can get it in high milage version would help.
There is a TSB from Honda saying that in the 90's the civics and accords had a problematic issue when using heavier weight oils that would hold the valves open for milliseconds longer then usual and after 60k miles or so found to burn valves.

I use 5w20, and once put 5w30 by mistake, and turned black quick as hell, 2 weeks. Also heard a rumor that since I live in FL, it's always hot, and using heavier oil will be better, I can say that's bullshіt

Thanks for all of the replies. I will stick with 5W20, just wondering if changing to synthetic will effect the gaskets? The main reason why I want synthetic is because I quicker warm up time during winter.

I never really understood the reasoning behind going against what Honda says. I mean I have used whatever oil that is recommended and never once had an issue. If it ain't broke don't fix it?
