Re: Kev's AV6 Coupe, tranny rebuild

wow impressive work that you rebuilt it yourself, beautiful color on your coupe by the way. whats with the horn near your drivers side shock tower?
oh and i would totally trade my usdm grill with factory gold emblems for your euro grill :naughty:

First happy new Year and thank you all :) Brad, I'm keeping my grill just may paint it in brilliant black. For the Horn I thought it was OEM, I don't know maybe an alarm?? Or extra Horn for Italian Drivers? When I'll see the car again (Cos it stays by my parent in the South of France, and I'm studying in the north, 1000km away, and a Civic Fk2 is my Daily drive)

So the end of the transmission repair, I took it back in the car with the small crane, it was really helpfull, it would have been impossible with the jacks.

And it's in, screwed (the box, not me :fc5716bd:)

The front lower beam with its new motor support, ready to go back on the car :

Didn't forget to fit the shift cable :

Harness, battery, air intake mounted :

While mounting back the drivetrains, I've put somme new gravel and rust protection Under my Wheel archs :

From that angle we can see that the beam has been dammaged and repaired :-(

Finished with changing the upper motor holder :

And it's ready to go on the road again, fitted new denso blades too :

And that's all, took me almost three weeks on the car, had to wait or go take some parts, but I made it. Since August, I drove it on about 1000 miles only and it goes really well in my mountains, no harsh shifting, really quick shifting from D4 to R. And even on really fast drives like if I tried to beat a Nürburgring lap record in Nice Back country no problem, with prompt downshifting when hitting the gas throttle.

So I'm really happy and to say really proud of me. Some pics of the first shooting I made of the car are to come.

Thanks for reading me.

Thanks :D

The light and whipers switch cover on the steering column were missing, so I made new ones from Bicycle air chamber cut in the right shape :

And after that I went on my first ride with the Accord for a shooting on the new Dike of Monaco Harbour.

Sorry for the quality, it's a floating dike so on long exposure it gets blurry, my Canon EOS1100D is not very good at night, and my foot is a cheap one from Carrefour (our walmart)

Funny story while shooting an American guy on a cruise was looking for a Cab but couldn't find one (They're real assholes on the Côte d'Azur) so I proposed to drive him to the Casino, guess he wasn't Home sick in the AV6 from Ohio :) Found a surprise 10 bucks tip in the cupholder, guess it paid the gas ^^

Broken or not, those headlight features are awesome.

Wish our cars had them.

Very impressive work you've done with the car, props to you for taking on a rebuild like that yourself.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Love the OEM blue accords. They are I think pretty rare and look so nice.

Thanks, that's right there's not much B89P Accord out there, maybe it wasn't a very fashionable color back in the late 90's. For the headlight washer, I do not see how they could be useful? The only good thing is because of them, I can legally mount HID on the car. You have to know that in France, it's illegal to modify any characteristics of its car, but they tolerate it :suicide:

Anyway, the only pic I have of all the family Honda's, cos my Civic now stays in Metz, in the north. The Jazz is my sister's car.

Last week I've had installed the double din Frame, I've bought it on eBay USA; 14$ shipped to France in only a week, not bad :

it looks cleaner than before with the black foam cut the size of the autoradio.

Just changed the front disks and pads too, vibrations while braking have almost disappeared, except on really high speed braking, like 170km/h to 90km/h.

And I've swapped the Civic wheels and Accord wheels, so that on the Civic I have 16 inches wheels for the winter tyres, they're much cheaper, and on the Accord, I'll finish the old winter tires I had on the Civic.

And to Finish, on the French Riviera, we're quite Lucky, cos' we have the sun and the see, but also the mountain, 1h20 drive from the coast, we've got some nice ski resorts, so we can go on a day skiing. That was my first long drive with the Accord, and a real test in the mountains narrow and winding roads, driving really fast, that's the Nordschleife, but longer, and more dangerous because you've got cars coming on the other way. I was really surprised by the Accord, the handling is good, not much roll, it steers fast and in the hairpins it's quite agile, and to overtake the gearbox isn't too slow, and the torque really helps for fast accelerations. When I drove to Isola 2000, it was raining quite heavily on the seaside and in the valley, so I couldn't go full throttle, and while going up it turned to snow. I was really happy to have my winter tyres, didn't have to put the snowchains when most of the other cars got stuck :yaoface2:

Did it to the top :) Only Awd and Accord can do it ^^ :

Wasn't a good day to ski, here's a pic of the car at 4pm :

But the next day we went to another resort, Auron, nice too, and we had the only day of Sunshine that week and fresh snow though :D :

That's all for now, you've catch up the story from it's beginning in July :) A shame I didn't discovered the board sooner, it would have been better to follow the overhaul while I was doing it. Anyway, now next time I see the car it will be in march :-(

Re: mx5Kev's Accord V6 Coupe,EUDM, tranny rebuild (56k warning)

Hello,

Came back to my parents in the South of France, and found back my Av6, still a pleasure to ride, the gears goes in smoothly, no klonk or weird nose, juste silent and speeds going up and down without you feeling it. Definitely worth the rebuild.

Anyway, I've fitted my eBay blackhoused beams, and you get what you pay for. First of all I had to cut a big part of it to fit the electric headlights level selection, at least its okay, because usdm cars do not have it. But they also fit terribely on the car, none of the screw holes gets in front of the holes on the car. And the shape of the light is not even the same as oem, so they do not look well fitted.

We'll see how the age up, but I don't bet they'll last long, when you pay by Honda, you know what you pay for. Should have taken one Bosch aftermarket light for my car, I've changed juste because one was broken, and thought, why not two blackhoused light for the price of one Bosch aftermarket light in germany?

Well, at least they do not look that bad on pics :

Hey, today is the first sunny day of the week, so I washed the car and got out to try my mom's new Nikon D5100 with a 18-105 VR objective. Too bad I finished a bit late so luminosity is not at it's best and there is some smog but the result is not bad. I think when i'll master this camera, I can take out some nice pics of it. I'll try another time to make better with a nicer background, but the results still seems not bad, so I thought i would share.

I was too hard on Photoshop and was really criticized on other boards, so here's a version of almost raw pics :
