Re: What did you do today Detailing related?

Coated all exterior windows with a glass coating by Gtechniq

Did all side mirrors with Gtechniq G5

This is what G5 looks like while curing

After buffed off within 2 minutes

Water repelling shot

(reserved)

Products used

Process for side mirrors:

Clean with soap and water
Clayed with Nanoskin sponge(fine grade)
Polished with Gtechniq G4
Coated with Gtechniq G5

The rest of the exterior windows I coated them with Gtechniq G1

Here's a picture of the window without any coating. As you can see the surface holds water really well and it does not slide off.

After

(reserved)

Cleaning the glass with Gtechniq G4

1st of 3 layers of Gtechniq G1 being applied and allowed to cure for 5 minutes between coats

After

(reserved)

Products used

Process for all windows coated with Gtechniq G1:

Cleaned with soap and water
Clayed with Nanoskin sponge(fine grade)
Taped up trim to prevent staining from products
Polished glass with Gtechniq G4
Applied 3 coats of Gtechniq G1
Buffed off residue using Gtechniq G2

Thanks for looking guys. If anyone have any questions with the products feel free to ask, or leave a comment.

Couple spray at a time onto a towel. Then wipe the surface you are working on. Buff off after to get a matte finish look.

An example:

Re: What did you do today Detailing related?

Here's the album of what I did. Link

That's my favorite picture though.

Just polished it today. I still need to finish up the driver's side and part of the bumpers, but my pad ripped apart, so I need to get a new one. There isn't much of a noticeable difference from a distance, but I just wanted to get rid of some fine swirls.

Next up is cleaning it again (because hand buffing all the excess polish off with a microfiber takes forever), applying opti-seal paint sealant, and then dressing my tires and trim pieces. Also my windows are really dirty so I'll clean and rain-x those.

Distinct of Image, and reflection looks great. Can you share with everyone what products you used to achieve the finish, and your process?

Of course!

I used a DA polisher from harbor freight along with a foam polishing pad. The car was already pretty shiny to start with. For polish I used Meguiars M205 polish.

The process was pretty straightforward, I worked in small sections, and masked off areas I knew excess polish would get into (along the seams and trim pieces) with ordinary blue painters tape.

Then I just buffed out the excess polish left on the car with a microfiber cloth.
