Well I just went in to see my mechanic after noticing too many issues with my car lately.

to cut a long story short, I have an estimate of $3,500 of repairs and I know it may not be a lot to you guys, but for me it is since I bought the car at $2,400.

Some of the damages include;
- Right front engine mount
- Center front(?) engine mount
- Oil pump
- Timing and Power steering belt
- and Lots more.
(if you want I can include the rest of the items)

So my big dilemma is, do I sell the car or do I fix it (or get it fixed)?

keep in mind I am mechanically illiterate, I can change my oil and my tires... that's it.

What do you guys think? I do love my car :(

Please list the rest of what's needed. Alot of these things can be done yourself it's very satisfying as well as easy on the pocketbook.

Well the first five things you mentioned don't really add up anywhere near 3500. What is some of the other stuff that needs to be done?

If you can afford it, moving away from an old a$s Accord and onto something newer is always a splendid idea.

That sounds like a dealership estimate, but you said you have your own mechanic? If so, there must be bigger stuff than what you listed. What are the biggest issues?

Where in :canada: are you from?

That is a quote including labour, I can recommend a couple of shops if you are in Ontario(GTA) that may give you a better quote.

OKay so here is the full list of everything.

The labour is $80 per hour, already included labour in the pricing.

Timing Belt, Oil Pump(seals & OP switch) & Water Pump Kit - $1,052 (7.4 hrs, parts $467)
Driver Side Washer Jet - $30
Drivers Door lock actuator - $130 (1hr)
Passangers Door Lock actuator - $130 (1hr)
Oil Pressure Switch - $56.5 (0.5hr)
Power Steering and Alternator Belts - $176 (1hr)
Right Engine Mount - $180 (1hr)
Front Engine Mount - $575 (1.5hr, $455 part from dealer)
Headlight repairs - $595 (this might be covered by insurance)

Total - $3,305 ($2,925 without tax)

(Paid - $80 Diagnoses)

So I was a few hundred off, but that is still a lot of money.

The problem is you are looking to get the parts from the dealer.

Go on rockauto.com and find all the parts you need there, for MUCH less than the dealership.
