This past Saturday (3/31/07), I was excited to install the new wheels and tires I ordered for my beloved Accord. So excited that I also gave her a bath. I thought I picked out a nice set of rims. Once I got them on the car...well... ...NICE!!

I took them for a spin. Not too far from home but on some nice curvy stretches. Nice tires, nice rims. I was excited to find this site with other Accord owners. I was looking forward to making a few improvements (#1 on the list would have been suspension). Heck, there was a lot on the list had I not decided to visit my local TGI Fridays to eat dinner. That's the part for the not-so-faint-hearted... ...after the next "WARNING":

Before new rims (stock wheels, winter tires):

First thing I wanted to do was a suspension kit:

WARNING: The following pictures are SAD!!... :( ...this is my car the next day and the bush that did it to her the night before. Now I'm worried my baby is going to be totaled... :(

Someone apparently put out their cigarette in the bushes...only 5 hours and 23 miles after I put on my new rims/tires and finished drying her off...

What's crazy is that I put an additional 10 miles on her in this condition. The only hoses that appear to be damaged are the windshield hoses. I'm hoping I don't reach my total limit since I love my car!!... :driving: ...and literally just installed $1,200 rims/tires... :( ...I hope they're not a waste.

One thing that concerns me (most of the damage appears cosmetic given the way she drives) is that the dash lights don't work. I don't know how much of the electrical system is in that corner of the car. I am hoping everything is screwy because of a simple short due to my cooked headlight. I wanted to blackout my lights...this isn't the way to do it, huh?...as for the person who put out their smoke in that bush... :bash:

The fire department was called out to the same parking lot for a previous fire in the mulch (I have photos of that bush, too). It's nuts. My car was taken down by a bush and some mulch?... :furious:

Thanks. I'm really hopeful the limit isn't reached...as your signature says, I was just starting to get addicted to this site!!

In only a few days time I had a ton of ideas (and even parts on order!). I'm hoping to find out where I stand soon. I really love my Accord...what a fun little car... :)

no way its totaled its not like theres any frame damage just some simple sanding and oem replacement parts
if they total it for some strange reason expect allot of money for modding to come your way!!!

That really sux bro... From my point of view your car is nowhere near totalled so I suggest you to start looking for a shop to do a good job on her.

Thanks guys! I hope everything works out...and by that I mean that I will still be driving my Accord shortly... :)

Does anyone have a service manual? I was going to order one the other day...it sure would come in handy now to know what I'm missing...

I don't remember much was in that corner under the hood. Given that the car drives fine (save for dragging pieces now), I don't think there was anything too critical (by that, I mean highly expensive to repair). A few tanks (washer fluid, coolant overflow), a headlight assembly, a wheel well cover, the foam bumper insert, and a new bumper cover. Assuming the headlight assembly is causing a short and electrical problems aren't found, it really doesn't seem that bad.

I'd hate to see her get totaled for this. I'm probably missing a few parts and don't know the labor/price of painting, etc. Heck I'm half thinking of a carbon hood now anyway. I doubt the color can be matched very well when repainting the hood and it would be right there...the hood...mis-matched. Might as well really mis-match... ;)

If I'm not mistaken, I can still keep a "totaled" car and they'd pay me less what "they'd get" at an auction (no doubt, inflated!). I just wouldn't be able to insure the vehicle anymore. If the pattern happens to repeat, I'll have another 6 years before another run-in with a burning bush... ;)

Holy Sh(t that's nutz. What are the odds. Bro I'd be crying but I don't think it's totaled. New Hood, Bumper cover, bumper reinforcement, drivers side lamp drivers side fender, hoses, light bulbs, repaint sounds about right. and of course whatever electrical shi(t you have to fix.

BTW nice rims man. Hope you get her back in pristine condition

peace,
