I thought all the F series blocks were of more or less the same design, minus the F20B (all cast iron blocks, open deck, iron sleeves, no oil squirters). I thought the differences were in the heads??

Both DOHC and SOHC F-series motors are cast iron

Re: Accorman722's G23 Build.

I knew that all the F's were cast iron. I guess i wasn't clear there lol. But the F20b is not the same casting as the other F series motors. If i remember correctly the f20b has 10 oil drain ports??

My main question was whether all the F23 blocks or of the same casting/design. I.E same girdle, oil drain positions, main caps, no oil squirters.

The main reason i ask is because would choosing one F block over another be better for a G23 build.

F23 is the best block. H22 and F20b are pretty much the same engine. Almost identical

^ So all F23 blocks are identical is what you are saying. Whether it's an A1, A4, A5, A7?

No the A1 is what you want. I was saying the H22 and the F20 are the same engine

Re: Accorman722's G23 Build.

The only difference the A1 has over the A4 is +2hp which is bare noticeable and of course the A5 and A7 are nonvtec cylinder head.....honest if I were in your position I go nonvtec f22a6 head (better flow and more torque) on A1 or either sohc or dohc f20 block block (since it higher compression but you want boost so A1 block).....
