Are you sure it's coming from behind? J-series motors seem to always tick somewhat loudly.

very true, my ex v6 has stock mint oem exhaust all the way back and idle is perfect put the ticking is so noticeable at idle im guessing thats just the normal valve tap for our j series cuz i had a 02 TL-S a few years ago and the engine made the same noise.

^sounds about right. The motor in my car now is from an 02 TL-S and makes the same ticking as the J30 did, just not as loud. lol

It's a J thang.

Is there any sort of part like for the gas tank, or near it?
It does it on and off too. It'll do it for a few days, then it will just randomly stop.

^^^Post #4 says it does it at a dead stop.

it does it when I'm at a dead stop though.

Possible fuel pump?
My older (1982) accord did the exact same thing.
The fuel pump was right below the back door, right infront of the back tire
This is referring to the left (Driver) side of the vehicle

That would explain why the ticking could be faster when you accelerate

I just replaced my fuel pump a few months ago though. :/ Its done it before I replaced it, though. That's why I'm so confused right now.

Do you have any enemies in the mob? I fear they got hold of it and strapped a ticking time bomb somewhere...
