ok guys, i've been curious about this thing. what is the different between retrofit headlights and TYC projector headlights cause i think they use projectors right?? and btw, can i put HID kit like 6000 K in my blackhoused headlight or it'd be better to put the HID kit on retrofit?? any output different??

alright, well, a retrofit is when you take another cars' OEM projector, like an s2000, bmw, or mercades or w/e you like and either put that projector into your OEM headlight, OR some people will retrofit a TYC headlight, and all they do is replace the projector in the headlight with a better one. i think the projector in the tyc housing is a projector made for halogen bulbs and not HID's anyway. and yes you can put an HID kit in your stock headlights, i have a 6000k one in mine (left side of the picture):

but just make sure you aim them so you dont blind the sh!t out of people. i aimed mine that night when i put them in. but it would be better to put the HIDs in a projector.....but im fine with the way mine are.

Check out XenonDepot.com and have a look through their photo galleries.
I picked out a few that I though would give you an idea of a retro vs.conversion.
http://xenondepot.com/pghpbb4.php ---> This is terrible output, you can see the two hot spots on the garage door. Good example of a conversion into stock housings.

http://xenondepot.com/pgbmwc36.php --> Here's a BMX with OEM projectors, see the razor sharp cutoff. And those really are not that great looking compared to whats possible with a retro.

http://xenondepot.com/pgdn.php --> Ok, Neon SRT-4 with just a HID conversion into stock housings. As you can see, two big hot spots with not a lot of light anywhere else.

http://xenondepot.com/pgarsx.php --> Not terrible on this RSX, but you can still see the hot spots in the cutoff shot. Again, conversion into stock housing.

Also, heres some shots of HID's in TYC projector headlights. Not too bad if you ask me, I could live with that untill I did a retrofit. http://www.everything-honda.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5041&highlight=tyc+valeo

be like it is
id say if youre going to go hid, do it right the first time. do a lot of research, find some good projectors, and tackle the retrofit yourself, or pay someone to do it. hid kits just arent as good as projectors. i just call them "glare kits" because i can tell whos got a kit and whos got real projectors from (literally) a mile away.
