What are the signs of a dying clutch? At what point should you change it? Are there any methods one may use to test the clutch?

someone told me a sign was if you floor the gas and your car goes nowhere, or it takes a few seconds to accelerate after you floor the gas. Basically, I guess your rpm's shoot up, but your car slugs.

Or another one I heard was, you try to deliberately stall the car but you can't. For example, you put it in 1st and pop the clutch (no gas). If it doesn't stall, then something is wrong.

I heard that its when you feel your clutch slipping. So when you put it into a gear and you hit the gas, does it take a while for it to grab on and start accelerating?

Here are a few signs.

1) you're almost off the clutch pedal (half way off) and the clutch still isn't engaged

2) You barely step on the clutch and it's disengaged.

Those are the two most popular signs of a worn clutch.
