Hello first of all my name is Dennis. I've got a 1998 Accord EX Sedan which I'll be getting 18's on in about a months time.

I have already picked out the rims I want and the Tires I want. I went to go order them from Wheelmax and they recommended a different size then what I'm looking at, which confused the heck out of me.

I already know about the Tire Calculator. And I've figured that a 225/40-18 would be the best fit for my car since my original wheels are 195/65-15s.

When I tried ordering the tire with the wheel, they recommended that I get 235/40-18s.

Now I've put both the 225s and the 235s on the Tire Calculator and all indications say that the 225s are closer in match to my original tires then the 235s.

I emailed the custmer Service guys at WheelMax about the recommendation and this is what they said:

the 235-40-18 will keep your speedometer closer to the original then a 225-40-18.

but its your choice.. you can order any size you like

Am I going crazy but the Tire Calculator has the 225's closer to the originals then the 235s

Can anyone else verify this for me or am I missing something??

thanx

Dennis

Go with 225s, you'll definetely rub with 235s if you are lowered. 225s actually read speedometer closer to the stock than 235s.

when you're doing 60mph on 195/65/15

on 225/40/18 it will be 60.3mph
on 235/40/18 it will be 61.0mph

so yeah, those people are idiots

most likely, they have a lot of tires in stock in the 235 size and are trying to move them.

i'd recommend the 225/40-18 size

Thank you Muyo and Wildman for the replies, I thought that I was correct with the 225s

And it certainly is plausable that they are just trying to get rid of the 235s. I just found it odd that they would tell me that the 235s are closer to the speedometer than the 225s

I'll be going with the 225s

As soon as I get my rims and tires I'll post pics up

thanx

Definitely go with 225. 235 would be too wide. Especially in the rear.
225/40/18 would be the perfect size.
If you wer to get 19's then you would go with 235/35/19
