Last week I bought a bottle of simple green since i've seen many threads on other forums saying how good it is for engine bay cleaning. I don't have any before pictures but I can tell you this that the car has 153,800 miles and the engine bay has not been cleaned before.

Steps of cleaning engine bay using Simple Green.

-Make sure that the engine bay is cooled off.
-Cover your distributor with some sort of bag.
-Spray everywhere possible, watch out with any electrical components
-Let it sit for about 3-5 minutes.
-Rinse off with a garden hose
-Let it dry out, belts may be a little squeaky but its normal.
-Enjoy your clean engine bay.

if the engine is hot, that simple green with evaporate and stick to your engine and leave stains.... then you won't be able to rinse it off...

so like Roman stated, engine has to be cool, especially header part...

i would also cover all other electrical parts like the battery, fuse box and alternator with a plastic bag

do it at a car wash if possible so that u can a pressure washer

It works quite well. Try it out.

I was going to cover the electrical parts but I tried not to spray those areas or get it wet. Why would you want to use a pressure washer? Garden hose is fine.

my neighbor is a aka "profesional detailer"
he told me to buy simple green as well.
i did and i only covered the distributer. he told me i was a chiken and didnt let me cover the alternator or anything else.
he sprayed everywhere there was dust or gunk and pressure washed it
came out nice.car started and alternator still works. distributer cap still dirty though lol
