So in my mom's Toyota, the Maintenance Req. light stays on the whole ride. Now, with my car, it just started to come on, but instead, it flashes 10 times then turns off.

So 1: Is this normal?
2: What could it possibly mean?

Thanks, and again, please excuse my ignorance
:stupid:

It means it's about time to take your car in, once it stays on you've gone over the amount of time in which you needed to take the car in.

yea, its a dumby light. just turn your car off push in and hold the "reset" button that sticks out in your cluster, then turn your car key to "on".......dont turn the car on, just put the key at on. then continue to hold the reset button in for about another 15 (i think) seconds, and youre golden, itll go away. its nothing like the CEL. the maintenance light is just so you take your car to the dealer for them to make more money off you, hahaha.

Thanks all for clearing that for me. I still need to find time to take my car to AutoZone to get the CEL read correctly.

Or maybe...how much would an OBDII reader cost?
