yea i was looking at the 580...but realized its main feature was the master setting which let's it set off other flashes in slave mode...so i figured i would just buy the 430 for half the price and if i want to expand later i will buy the 580...but unless you plan on using it with other flashes i don't think it's worth it to buy it alone...

im also looking at the 70-200 but am unsure if i want the F4 IS or F2.8....or maybe even F2.8 IS if i can afford it later... :)

2.8 IS is 1.6k-2k...hefty price for a lens. I have the canon 75-300 f4, it's satisfactory, just can't shoot at 300mm unless you're at like 1000 ss which sux. I do alot of surfing shots so it helps if it were a 2.8 ya kno?

Not bad for a few shots, but others come out horribly fuzzy :-\

Details aren't very sharp on it, kinda sux ya kno?

usually larger apertures are made for shooting in low light situations....that way it lets in more light for any given shutter speed....i would think at the beach you would have enough light at F4 or even smaller to get your shutter speed fast enough to catch all the action...

the reason why your lens is fuzzy it just because of the quality of the glass...which is the main reason the 70-200 L glass is so expensive because at either F2.8 or F4 it is gonna be sharp...

F2.8 is gonna make it have a pretty shallow depth of field where on a surfing shot i would want the whole wave to be in focus so i would probably use F4-F10 depending on what angle in comparison to the wave i was at....if you are dead on a larger aperture might work...but at an angle i would use a smaller aperture to get it all in focus...

the reason why i want F2.8 is because i plan on using the lens inside sometimes and want some more light without having to use a tripod...
