what is the difference between 205/60-16 (99 ex-v6 coupe) and 205/55-16
(99 3.0cl) tires. I have a 4cyl with 16" rims, looking for tires, which will be closer to the specs for the 4cyl?

I think mine are 195 65r-15H... If you need the specs on the 4-cyl.

yea, 4 banger tires are stock size of 195/65/r-15. 205/60/r-16 is like the v6 size wheels, unless the ex 4 bangers came with that too? im not too sure on that. but the difference between the size of the accord tire you posted above and the CL tire you posted above is just the size in the sidewall. the accords that you posted is 60, and the CL's is 55. basically that means the height of the sidewall of the tire. i think you can get em as small as 30, which are like rubber bands. the first number, the 195, the 205, and such are the width of the tire. the higher the number, the wider the tire. that last number is the diameter of the rim its going onto. so if you got 205/60/r16 tires and wanted to put them on 17" rims, they wouldnt fit cuz of the r16 means its for a 16" rim.

hope that stuff helps, haha.

^^:stupid:

the middle number is for the sidewall... it's actually the percentage of the tire width.... 205/60/16 means tht the size of the sidewall is 60% of the width of the tire

i vote tht this should be a sticky.... useful info, esp for all u noobs :p

I'm assuming since you have a 4cyl, you had 195/65-15 (stock) and then you switched to 16's correct? In my opinion you could go with either 205/60-16 in which if you were going at the speed of 50 you are actually doing 51 which isn't that bad really, the same thing if you wanna do 205/55-16, with the same speed you are actually doing 49 which is slower, both will be close, it just depends on your own preference if you want more sidewall or less sidewall.

205(width of tires in mm)/55(percentage of width of tires to determine sidewall height)-16(size of wheel it goes on).

It's good to know what tire sizes are similar but to find the overall diameter, use a calulator. Unless you really love math.

For example, a 205/55/r16 and a 225/50/r16 may seem like they'd be drastically different sizes but in reality, they are riducoulously close in terms of diameter, one is 20 mm wider. It's good to know what you have, or your options, but use a calculator to compare.
