CEL on, engine drops power

randomly when accelerating, the engine randomly drops and picks up power... it sounds like v-tec kicking in 4 times accelerating from 3k to 6k rpm in 2nd gear... i have a shattered cat matrix, so i've bought the magnaflows (and my catback

) but i'm getting a feeling its the O2 sensor too.. does anyone have any opinions on that diagnosis? or any thing else to add?

What CEL code do you have? Get it checked and post the code here.

When was the last time you had a tuneup done? I think SykVSyx was having somewhat similar issue/sympotoms with his 00 TL car and it turned out to be a misfire in all 6 cylinders.

nevertheless knowing the code that your car is throwing would be needed for further insight.

got it at 120k miles, at 155 now... and i got the CEL checked, running p1259

I get the same code and have the same issue. My vtec solenoid was clean too. My cat is bad though and i'll be putting in a new one soon so hopefully that fixes that..
