So for the past week i have been hearing this whiny buzzing noise every morning when i start up the car, but it stops when the engine warms up. The noise gets louder when i turn the steering wheel.

would this be my PS belt or my PS pump??

also is there any chance of the PS failing on me while driving?

Thanks.

check the fluid level...assuming you already did that, check for any leaks near the pump, try to follow the PS pump hoses. that noise is most likey a fluid issue, maybe you have air in the system.

open the cap and turn left to right with the car on, add more if necessary.

i think that's how you do it...might be another step.
