brake pedal clicking

This morning when I jumped in my car and put my foot on the brake, I heard and felt a "crunch" in the pedal. Now every time I depress the brake more than 50% pressure I can feel a clicking.

It was an unusually cold night. I'm hoping that moisture didn't somehow make its way into my brake lines/ master cylinder, freeze, and cause me some problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the clicking only happens after a cold night. after being driven for a short period of time, it goes away, but always returns the next morning.

are you sure it's plunger related and not the bushings that mount the pedal? Spray some silicone spray into the bushings, if the noise remains, it's master cylinderish.
