i'm trying to format my C drive cos it's infected with a virus.... how the hell do i get into MS-DOS at startup?? or is there another way to format it?? it's been a while since i last formated by PC

btw, i'm running windows XP

if you want to completely reformat everything put your XP disk in the drive, and when it starts up, delete the previous partition, make a new one, but you do all that when you have the windows XP CD in there. also in order to boot from CD, change your boot order.

if you can run xp, then just sholve in the xp CD and make sure to set your system to boot up CD-ROM before HDD, then you can boot from xp disc and format your C.
if you are running any other before xp, then you need to create a bootable disk (find it under control panel->system). and use that floppy to run dos and whatever else
