i just put this setup into my car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Stand-Alone-Key...emZ120056249239QQcategoryZ60202QQcmdZViewItem
$28 + shipping, came out to just under $40
took me 0.5-1 hour to install, but most of that time was spenty trying to
figure out which wires to use.
you really only need to hook up two wires (lock/unlock) as well as
power/ground.
the power (+12v) is on the steering column socket, and the lock/unlock wires
are connected to a two plug harness (previously unused) in the driver's side
fuse box area.
i also hooked up the parking lights (which blink when lock/unlock is pushed).
the remote has two other buttons: trunk and horn
i think our cars need a power trunk release. like this:

can anyone confirm this? i don't want to go searching for a wire, and then
splice it, only to realize it's not hooked up to anything.
and according to the (very crappy) instructions that came with the remote,
the "horn" button will send a 30 second signal and they suggest it could be
used to roll up the windows or sunroof, so i don't think it's suitable to hook
into the horn. i will probably try contacting the seller to verify this.
here's the wiring diagram i found (and needed to use, due to the crappy ones
that were included):

if anyone is interested in a full DIY with better instructions i could probably
put one together. i think the kit works pretty well, fairly easy to hook up,
and quite cheap!
