removing shift knob?

ok so i got a dumb question.. how the hell do you take the shift knob off on a5 speed??? im wanting to replace it with a blox and cant get the shift knob off so any help will be welcomed thanks

you just twist off......well you just gotta have patient enough thought....it will twist for forever till you actually will be able to just pull it out.....(im just kidding, it wont take too long.....

)

i wish it was that easy.. the shift boot gets all twisted and you cant take it off

first u have to remove the boot...press the silver square (the neck) then push it down...you'll see the two clips on the knob that hold the boot in place...then twist the knoband ur done.....if u want a clean look, remove the shifter trim (just pop it)then undo the boot, remove the zip tie under the silver neck, put a ring (plastic ring), then put some electric tape on the shifter (keeps the stock boot in place), put it back on and tie the knob....might as well get a short shifter adaptor .
