need simple wiring help

i just got a radar detector and i wanna keep it clean so im running the power wire through the map light. I took some pics so if some one could just show me which wire to run which wire to id really appriciate it.:omgbd:

i took the electrical tape off, one of these is positive and one is negative yeah?

heres the power cord from the detector, no ground wire?

right right but on the map light side of things, see how theres a black wire and a white/grey wire? which of those is positive and which is negative

you're welcome and thank you very much. but you'll have to turn off the RD manually b/c the white stripe wire is always on.

gotcha, i just took my first attempt at it and i do believe i blew a fuse so ill check the fuse and start again when the sun comes up
