It's been done, and you have to cut out the whole entire section.

See the groove around the grill, all that has to be cut out as well as the bar.

i want the whole thing out. i might take a dremel to it and cut around the edge. I just dont want to expose anything ugly behind their. My car is black so i was going to get a dark silver vinyl strip the width of the grill going down. i already cut out the bottom on the bumper where the fog lights go. the whole car is in project mod with my exhaust cut out dash lights and hids coming in the mail. to many ideas at once.

Does anyone know where i can get a cheap grill kit just like that one above?

dont cut the whole thing out the type-r grills wont fit that bumper. you'll have to cut the cross bar out and do body work to fill up the holes

^ Details on why NOT to do this can be found here.

And here is a pic of what it looks like when u half *** it.

Basically, the only way to do this clean is to ditch the 98-00 type R grille idea, cut ONLY the grille crossbar out and custom glass the resulting notches.

Thanks Jake, I knew there were pics/posts of it done/half done.

OP, there you go, you can do it, but you need to do it right.
